The next federal election will take place next year. The CDU/CSU is leading the polls alone. Almost all of the traffic light parties are shrinking.

According to the current ARD “Deutschlandtrend”, the Union has extended its lead in voter popularity. In the survey published by the Infratest dimap institute on Thursday evening, the CDU and CSU achieved 32 percent, one point more than before. The AfD follows in second place with 16 percent (minus one). 15 percent (plus one) is predicted for the SPD.

The Greens lost another point and now have twelve percent. The Sahra Wagenknecht coalition improved by one point to nine percent. The FDP, with five percent, would have to worry about being re-elected to the Bundestag.

Satisfaction with the work of the federal government reached 20 percent, an improvement of one point from a very low level.

Of the cabinet members, only Defense Minister Boris Pistorius received a majority positive assessment with an approval rating of 56 percent. He was followed by Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock with 33 percent, just ahead of Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck with 30 percent (both Greens). 26 percent are satisfied with the work of Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP). He is thus just ahead of Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) with a satisfaction rating of 24 percent.

Among the opposition politicians, CDU leader Friedrich Merz leads with 34 percent approval. BSW leader Sahra Wagenknecht follows with 30 percent.

Infratest dimap surveyed 1,311 eligible voters from Monday to Wednesday of this week. The statistical margin of error was given as plus/minus two to three percentage points.
