NEW DELHI: The Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs has held a consultation to find a solution to the ongoing complaints of drug shopkeepers insisting on buying pills in a card. There were complaints.

In this case, the Central Department of Consumer Affairs held a consultation yesterday in New Delhi with the senior representatives of the Department of Medicines and Medical Devices to protect the interests of consumers in this matter.

Top officials of Drug Control Organization of India (DCGI) also participated in this.

‘We sell fast-selling tablets by splitting them into one or two from the carton. The problem lies only with the tablet covers, which are not sold as much.

The representatives of the drug stores said that the drug companies are refusing to take them back.

In this meeting, emphasis was placed on ‘packing’ each pill so that it can be easily and individually dispensed.

Also, it is recommended to print the manufacture and expiry date on the back of each pill carton and use QR code.

The Central Department of Consumer Affairs has heard the views of all parties and said that it will find a solution soon.
