Saka, Martinelli and Trossard knock out Klopp, the Red Devils beat West Ham 3-0. Blues overwhelmed by Wolverhampton
On the twenty-third day of the Premier League, Arsenal beat Liverpool 3-1 and move to -2 from the top: Saka, Martinelli and Trossard decide, Gabriel’s own goal for Klopp is useless. Disastrous Alissonguilty in the Gunners’ second and third goals. Manchester United beats West Ham 3-0: Hojlund and Garnacho decide (double). Another knockout for Chelsea, defeated 4-2 at home by Wolverhampton: Palmer and Thiago Silva deceive the Blues, recovering from a super Cunha (hat-trick).
ARSENAL-LIVERPOOL 3-1
Very heavy victory for Arsenal, who beat Liverpool 3-1 at the Emirates: a result that risks upsetting the Premier league table. The Gunners take the lead in the 14th minute: after a long move, Odegaard verticalizes for Havertz who shoots at Alisson, but Saka arrives on the rebound and can’t make a mistake, making it 1-0 for the Londoners. Before the break, however, the Reds equalized: a deep ball for Luis Diaz, who put it in the center and caused Gabriel’s own goal, which effectively gave Klopp the 1-1 on the last chance of the first half. Arteta’s team, however, regained the lead midway through the second half with the incredible misunderstanding between Van Dijk and Alisson on Gabriel’s own pass from behind: Martinelli took advantage of it and scored with an empty net to make it 2-1 for the home team. The guests also tried to try to equalize, but in the final they were left with ten men due to Konaté’s expulsion and Trossard closed the game in the 92nd minute with a super solo finished with a left-footed shot that passed between Alisson’s legs. Arsenal is smiling, now -2 behind Liverpool: Klopp is potentially behind Guardiola who is now -5 but with two games in hand. City are looking forward to overtaking, but they will need to beat Brentford on Monday Night.
MANCHESTER UNITED-WEST HAM 3-0
Success for Manchester United, who beat West Ham 3-0 at Old Trafford. The Irons immediately try to scare the hosts, but as the minutes pass, the inertia shifts to the side of the Manchester reds. In the 23rd minute the goal made it 1-0, with the great left-right play from former Atalanta player Hojlund giving the Red Devils the lead. The guests are unable to react immediately, with the first half winding down with ten Hag’s team ahead by a goal. At the start of the second half United struck again: in the 49th minute Garnacho found the far corner with a left-footed turn, which was worth the second. After the second goal conceded, the Hammers try to push in search of a flash to reopen the match, but the home team defends compactly and risks very little. In the best moment of Moyes’ team, Manchester closes the game: assist from substitute McTominay for Garnacho’s personal brace, which seals the final 3-0. With this success, Manchester United rises to 38 points, in sixth place, overtaking West Ham, who are stuck on 36 in seventh place.
CHELSEA-WOLVERHAMPTON 2-4
Sensational poker for Wolverhampton at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea overwhelmed 4-2. In the first quarter of an hour, Pochettino’s team tries to crush their opponents in their own half, and in the 19th minute they manage to break the deadlock: an illuminating through ball from Caicedo for the diagonal of the usual Palmer, who makes it 1-0 with his right foot. However, the Blues fell asleep when the game resumed, and after a handful of seconds the Wolves immediately brought the match back into balance: Cunha received the ball inside the area on the left and started to turn with his right foot, which found the deflection of Disasi and gets stuck in the net. Just before the end of the first half of the game, O’Neil’s men even managed to complete the comeback: in the 42nd minute Neto flew down the right and caught the perfect pass from Ait-Nouri, who finished on goal and found the second deflection of the day in your own door of Disasi. In the second half things didn’t change, and shortly after the hour mark the guests also scored a hat trick: another great play by Neto on the wing, who put the ball in tow for Cunha’s sure-fire conclusion, who scored his brace personal. The Brazilian striker also takes the ball home in the 82nd minute, when he converts the penalty which makes it 4-1. In the final there was also room for Thiago Silva’s 4-2, who after suffering from Neto’s offensives, tried to turn on the final when, however, it was too late. Wolverhampton wins 4-2 and overtakes Chelsea in tenth place, rising to 32 points against the Blues’ 31.
BOURNEMOUTH-NOTTINGHAM FOREST 1-1
Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest aren’t hurt, the match ends 1-1. Ready to go and the Cherries strike immediately: in the fifth minute of the game the former Roma player Justin Kluivert puts the hosts ahead, with an assist from Sinisterra. As the minutes passed, Nuno Espirito Santo’s men began to get going, showing up several times in Neto’s area. A few moments after the final whistle, Forest brought the match back to a draw, with former Chelsea player Hudson-Odoi’s beautiful right-footed shot making it 1-1. On the wings of enthusiasm, Nottingham opened the second half by attacking, but towards the middle of the second half Iraola’s team increased their pressure again. In the best moment of their match, however, the hosts remained numerically inferior, due to Billing’s direct expulsion. In the final, Forest is unable to take advantage, and at the final whistle the scoreboard still reads 1-1. Bournemouth rises to 27 points, -4 behind Chelsea in eleventh and with a game still to recover. However, 21 points have been scored so far by Nottingham, now sixteenth.
