Cultivating pharmaceutical sales talent and providing career exploration opportunities to college students

Korea United Pharmaceuticals (CEO Kang Deok-young) held the ‘2nd Pharmaceutical Sales Training Camp’ and ‘Improved New Drug Detail Contest’ to provide 4th year (and expected to graduate) students in pharmaceutical engineering departments at universities across the country with an opportunity to understand pharmaceutical sales (MR) and explore career paths after graduation.

The event was held for 3 nights and 4 days from July 16 to 19 at the United History Campus in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, and included various programs such as a campus tour, education on major new drug products, understanding pharmaceutical sales (MR), and conversations with current professionals.

On the last day of the event, Friday the 19th, the 2nd National College Student Improved New Drug Detail Contest was held at the United Yeoksam Building in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Students became MRs and had time to present a situation in which they would sell improved new drugs to customers (doctors) based on what they learned during the camp. The first place winner of the contest received 1 million won, and the second place winner received 500,000 won.

Chungnam National University student Park Jung-wook, who won first place in this contest, said, “It was a meaningful time where I was able to learn about and gain experience in the actual MR job. I felt that it could be a great experience for college students who are considering a career in this field.” He also said, “It was a beneficial experience to be able to receive feedback directly from people in the field, and it was a valuable opportunity to learn how to communicate a product persuasively.”

This event, now in its second year, is becoming a major event for students preparing for employment, and it seems likely that many students will have the opportunity to experience the job called MR in the future.
