United Russia has nominated candidates for leading positions in the State Duma. These decisions were made on Tuesday, October 5, at a closed meeting of the bureau of the Supreme and General Councils of the party.
According to TASS, a decision was made to nominate Vyacheslav Volodin, who also headed the chamber in the last convocation, for the post of speaker.
Alexander Zhukov has been nominated for the post of the first vice-speaker of the State Duma. In addition, of the former deputy chairmen of the State Duma, it is proposed to retain posts for Irina Yarova, Pyotr Tolstoy and Alexei Gordeev. Also, the head of the United Russia faction in the last convocation of the State Duma Sergei Neverov, the former Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights Anna Kuznetsova, and the ex-head of Tuva Sholban Kora-ool were nominated to the Deputy Chairmen of the State Duma. It should be noted that in general there will be 11 vice-speakers in the structure of the leadership of the chamber.
The meeting participants also nominated the heads of the committees. Key committees will remain behind United Russia. So, according to TASS, Andrei Makarov will retain the post of head of the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes, and Pavel Zavalny will retain the post of Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Energy. The United Russia party also proposes to keep Pavel Krasheninnikov’s committee on state building and legislation, Alexander Khinshtein – the committee on information policy, information technology and communications, and Vasily Piskarev – the committee on security and combating corruption. It is also planned that Elena Yampolskaya, who headed the committee on culture in the previous convocation, will retain his position in the new State Duma.
The former Minister of Labor and Social Protection Maxim Topilin in the United Russia is proposed to be appointed to the post of head of the committee on economic policy. Former Deputy Defense Minister Andrei Kartapolov was nominated in the party for the post of chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee. Deputy Secretary of the General Council of the party Dmitry Kobylkin in the United Russia was offered to the post of chairman of the committee on ecology, natural resources and environmental protection.
The Committee for Construction and Housing and Communal Services is proposed to be placed under the leadership of Sergei Pakhomov. In the former Duma, he served as the first deputy chairman of the committee on housing policy and housing and communal services.
Vladimir Gutenev is applying for the post of chairman of the committee for industry and trade. Oleg Morozov was nominated as chairman of the party’s control committee.
For the post of chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education in the United Russia, they proposed the candidacy of the deputy Olga Kazakova.
Artem Metelev, Chairman of the Council of the Association of Volunteer Centers, has been nominated as the Chairman of the Committee on Youth Policy. And the vice-speaker of the State Duma of the seventh convocation Olga Timofeeva was proposed to the post of head of the committee for the development of civil society, issues of public and religious associations.
All these candidates will be officially nominated for election at the first plenary session of the State Duma, which will be held on October 12.
