What do we see now? Everywhere, relevant and original solutions to ecological, social and democratic crises are implemented by citizens, associations, local authorities and businesses. But this myriad of initiatives fails to find its political outlet.
It is because it responded to this void that the Popular Primary brought together 392,000 citizens [votants, pour près de 467 000 inscrits]. Ninety percent of left-wing voters thought a single candidacy was a good thing. Here we are a good year after the missed opportunity to win the presidential and legislative elections, in 2022. In this pivotal moment, the Popular Primary offers lessons in the service of a continuation of the New Ecological and Social Popular Union (Nupes).
It must be said, repeated, again and again. There is strength in unity when the direction is clear. The Nupes alliance made it possible to elect one hundred and fifty-one deputies. Much more than if the left had left in a dispersed order.

What are the common points between the banquet campaign in 1847-1848, the Popular Front in 1936, “the happy days” in 1944, the victory of the common program in 1981 or the coming to power of Nelson Mandela (1918-2013) In 1994 ? Each time, political forces for social progress and for democratic renewal join hands and win. It has never happened otherwise. Let’s join forces, that was the message of the Popular Primary.
Thousands of volunteers
This common base of ideas must allow a civilized exit from capitalism. Let us dare to say it like climatologist Jean Jouzel: « LCapitalism is incompatible with the fight against global warming ». If we let the currently dominant economic forces do their thing, the impact of the crises will increase. And no one can say how bad we will come out of this. We are not starting from scratch to bring this common base to life. It was formed in the spring of 2021 by the Popular Primary. The Nupes program is an extension of this. We must popularize and enrich these ideas.
To debate these ideas, we can form a network of bases to train social justice and ecology activists. The Popular Primary mobilized nearly three hundred and ninety-two thousand citizens because it made the training of volunteers its number one tool to change scale. She trained thousands of volunteers in record time to amplify the dynamic. The Nupes needs this mesh.
