On the initiative of Gazipur district administration, a special workshop on universal pension scheme was held at Walton Hi-Tech Park, the country’s electronics giant. Its objective is to inform all concerned about the Universal Pension Scheme announced by the Government and motivate them to participate in the programme. More than one hundred officials of Walton Hi-Tech Park participated in this workshop.
A workshop on ‘Information and Promotion of Universal Pension Scheme’ was organized at Walton Hi-Tech Park in Chandraya, Gazipur on Monday (May 6, 2024) under the slogan ‘Happier Tomorrow, Pension Now Universal’. Gazipur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abul Fate Mohammad Safiqul Islam, Kaliakir UNO Kaushar Ahmed and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rajat Biswas were present as chief guests.
When the guests arrived at the Walton Complex, they were welcomed with flowers by SM Shamchul Alam, Chairman of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Plc. Walton Digi-Tech Industries Additional Managing Director (AMD) Engineer Liaquat Ali and Walton Hi-Tech Deputy Managing Director Md. Yusuf Ali along with senior officials of the organization.
It may be noted that the universal pension scheme has been launched for the first time in the country recently. Through this, all the citizens of the country except the government employees are included in the pension benefits. It is known that all Bangladeshi citizens between the ages of 18 and 50 can participate in the universal pension scheme. However, as a special consideration, the fifty-year-old citizens will also get lifelong pension benefits if they make 10 years of uninterrupted contributions. The government has announced a total of 4 packages or schemes in pension. These are named – Immigration, Progress, Protection and Equality.
Gazipur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abul Fateh Mohammad Safiqul Islam addressed the ‘Information and Incentive’ meeting on Universal Pension Scheme at Walton Hi-Tech Park.
At the workshop, Deputy Commissioner Abul Fate Mohammad Safiqul Islam said that this pension scheme is the result of government’s long-term planning, monitoring and research. Pension schemes are announced for the benefit of the citizens. who joins the scheme as soon as possible; He will be the more beneficiary. We hope that all the citizens of the country irrespective of party affiliation will come under this pension scheme. Everyone will benefit from it.
Deputy Commissioner Abul Fate Mohammad Safiqul Islam gave a detailed presentation on the pension scheme.
The Universal Pension Scheme Registration Program was inaugurated at the Walton Headquarters in the workshop. Many Walton officers join the government’s public pension scheme through registration. After successful completion of the registration, the District Commissioner handed over the print copy of the universal pension scheme to them.
UNO Kaushar Ahmed said that the government has launched this pension scheme to ensure the future economic security of the people. The objective of the Bangladesh government is to become a welfare state as soon as possible. Under these schemes, citizens can ensure their financial security.
Deputy Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech. Yusuf Ali said, this pension scheme initiative of the government is very necessary for our country. This is a very timely decision. We welcome this pension scheme. This scheme will benefit the people. We hope that people will respond to this initiative on their own responsibility. Walton will provide all kind of assistance to the local administration in this regard. Along with the government Walton is also taking various welfare steps for their family members.
In the evening, the guests toured Walton’s manufacturing units such as fridges, TVs, mold and dies etc. They were impressed by the various activities at the Walton headquarters, including the massive manufacturing operations.
