Universiathe employment platform for university students Santander Bank, has launched the second edition of ‘Universia Metaworking’. It is a competition based on gamification and video games, which seeks talent among young people.

Universia Metaworking allows participants to come into contact with large companies such as Banco Santander itself, Acciona, Danone, Iberdrola, Naturgy, NTT Data and Fundación Universia, which are seeking to incorporate junior profiles into their teams, as stated by Banco Santander in a statement.

Young participants must have STEAM profiles (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), be in the last years of their studies or recent graduates, and have a good level of English. You can register for this Banco Santander initiative until next October 22, and in it you must show your skills to pass different tests, and thus attract the attention of employing companies.

In the words of Susana García, the director of Santander Universities and Universia España, «We are increasingly in a professional reality with teams that work with new methodologies, where technical and humanistic profiles are combined. That is why at Universia we wanted to launch Metaworking for the second year, to make it easier for large companies to access the best STEAM profiles and learn first-hand about their technical competencies and transversal skills through the resolution of different challenges.

Universia Metaworking has two phases. Santander Bank has indicated that, after registering for the competition, the participants will present themselves to the Universia talent selection team, which will carry out a soft skills test (creativity, communication, teamwork, critical thinking, etc.), with which will initially evaluate the profiles of the young people.

The second phase will consist of ‘virtual meetings’ with the participating companies, which will present their most significant projects, and will meet the candidates personally.

Finally, those who pass both phases will reach the final, which will take place on November 23 in Madrid. Here multidisciplinary teams will be created that must solve a series of challenges playing Minecraft, in order to show both their skills and their ability to work as a team.

This edition of Universia Metaworking has the collaboration of companies such as Banco Santander, Acciona, Danone, Iberdrola, Naturgy and NTT Data, and the Universia Foundation itself.

With the purpose of contributing to the awareness and inclusion of people with disabilities in the world of work, Universia will lead the finalists to a “blind” learning experience through the game ‘Open your senses’, in which the participants will have to adapt to the work environment having a visual disability.
