Park Joo-hyo (Goyang City Hall), who overcame his 5th-grade disability to place 7th in the men’s 73 kg weightlifting class at the Paris Olympics, expressed his regrets about being on the national team.

Park Joo-hyo said on his social media on the 12th, “If there’s one thing I wish for, it’s that the coach who has been in sync with me will be in charge of strategy during the game.”

He said, “It’s even more regrettable because it was the Olympics that I prepared for with all my heart and soul. It seems like it was the best moment for some and a cruel memory for others.”

He continued, “Just standing on the Olympic stage is a huge honor, but I feel so sorry to myself and those who cheered me on. I feel so frustrated and sad, whether it was because I didn’t try hard enough or because the heavens didn’t recognize my efforts.”

Park said, “If there’s one thing I wish for, it’s that the coach who has been in sync with me will be in charge of the strategy during the game.”

He continued, “Because someone who didn’t know how much I had prepared and how many kilograms I had confidently lifted was in charge, I ended up lowering the weight I had prepared for,” and explained, “Because of that, my mentality couldn’t help but waver during the match.”

It seems that this means that the coach who guided him was unable to participate in this competition due to the limited number of Olympic coaching staff. This part has now been deleted.

He said, “I am so grateful to those who cheered me on, and I am so sorry. I was so happy to receive the warm support I received, even if only for a short time, during the Olympics.” He added, “I will prepare even harder and harder until the next Olympics, so I hope you will not forget the sport of weightlifting and continue to show interest in it. I will work even harder.”

Earlier, on the 8th (local time), Park Joo-hyo recorded 7th place in the men’s 73kg weightlifting class at the Paris Olympics with a snatch of 147kg, a clean and jerk of 187kg, and a total of 337kg. The gap with 3rd place medal contender Dimitrov Andreev (Bulgaria, 344kg) was 10kg.
