This Sunday, October 8, ETB1 will premiere the first three episodes of the ‘Mugarik gabe’ series, set in the first world tour. Thus, the audio-visual based on the feat started by Fernando de Magallanes and finished by Juan Sebastian Elkano will be shown at 10:00 pm on the first channel and through the website.
In August 1519, 239 sailors set off from Seville under the leadership of Captain Fernando de Magallanes. Three years later, only 18 of them returned alive, in a single ship, led by Juan Sebastian Elkano. They had just turned the world around. They were trying to find a new way to the Spice Islands, a mission that seemed almost impossible. In the end, that adventure changed history, proving that the earth is round.
In a three-year journey, they traveled 90,000 kilometers through unknown waters and territories, in one of the greatest feats in history that forever transformed world trade, economics, astronomy and knowledge. Rebellions, betrayals, hunger, death… this is a story full of adventure and emotions.
Directed by filmmaker Simon West, it features a long list of well-known actors, including Álvaro Morte, Rodrigo Santoro, Barbara Goenaga, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Pepón Nieto, Carlos Cuevas and Adrián Lastra. The audiovisual, presented by the channel as a “super production”, has a total of six episodes and was realized with the participation of EITB. The screenplay is by Patxi Amezcua.
