Kozhikode: It has been two years since the death of actor Unnikrishnan Namboothiri. On January 20, 2021, the grandfather who filled the hearts of Malayalis left.

He was a genius who became a film actor by chance at the age of 75 and continued to act as the beloved grandfather of Malayalees till the age of 98. His son-in-law Kaitapram Damodaran Namboothiri said that his acting was as if he had intervened in life with an open mind.

Kaitapram also remembered that Unnikrishnan Namboothiri, who kept AKG in hiding in Illat, had close ties with communist leaders including Pinarayi Vijayan. Adoor Gopalakrishnan had told him directly when he came to Payyannur that he is a perfect actor.

Anyone who has seen movies like Desadanam, Rapakal, Utaramantara and Kalyanaraman will never forget this grandfather. Kaitapram Damodaran Namboothiri said that Unnikrishnan Namboothiri had never acted in his life.
