In upazila parishads where the chairman and panel chairman are absent from work, the upazila executive officer (UNO) has been given full financial and administrative powers to keep the public service uninterrupted.
On Wednesday (August 14), the local government department issued an office order in this regard.
It is said that due to the recent situation, many chairmen in various upazila parishads are consistently absent from work and their presence cannot be confirmed even after contacting them. Many panel chairmen of upazila parishads are also consistently absent from work and their presence cannot be confirmed even when contacted. Because of this, many types of activities of upazila parishads have come to a standstill and public services are being disrupted. Due to this reason, upazila parishad chairman and panel chairman are absent, the upazila parishad chairman has been temporarily given full financial and administrative powers until the concerned upazila executive officer is re-instructed to continue all types of public services and administrative activities in the upazila parishad.
