The impact of the possible merger between Jumbo and Soudal is such that related news continues to emerge. In this case, the Norwegian UNO-X confirmed that they would be interested in acquiring the Soudal QuickStep license if Jumbo absorbs Lefevere’s team.

This was confirmed by the manager of the Norwegian team to Wierlerflits. “My answers are hypothetical because there is nothing official, but it is no mystery that our goal is to jump to the World Tour,” said Jens Haugland.
“Last year we already applied for the World Tour and we couldn’t go up due to lack of points. But we did pass all the other criteria and, honestly, I think we might already be in that category. Look at our Tour de France,” he continued.
“We could acquire the Soudal license but with our conditions, without obligations. We are not going to buy with obligations such as having this or that broker. We are not going to change our identity,” added the team manager who, despite being Norwegian, has great Danish influences.
That said, UNO-X won’t be the only one interested in the Soudal license if the merger happens, and Haugland knows it. “I would be surprised if Lotto Dstny or Israel-Premier Tech do not take advantage of the situation. Furthermore, Tudor Pro Cycling and Q36.5 Pro Cycling cannot be discounted,” he concluded.
