News from Angola – UA 19-year-old girl was forced to pay a fine of 50,000 pesos (Mexican currency), which corresponds to around 2.6 million kwanzas, for refusing to marry in the Huasteca region, in the State of Hidalgo (Mexico).

The victim, identified as Adriana, in addition to being fined, was also detained by the Mexican police.
According to noticiasaominuto.com, the young woman from the Hustecas region initially agreed to marry a neighbor, but ended up giving up.
The woman refused to marry, possibly because it was an arranged ceremony, says the Excelsior newspaper.
The local authorities arrested her and imprisoned her in a community prison in the community of Santo Tomás, municipality of Atlapexco.
The young woman was eventually released because an illegal arrest was being made.
The dating culture in Mexico is rooted in strong family values and traditions. Mexicans tend to be romantic and show a deep respect for women.
Although respect for women is valued, some macho and patriarchal attitudes can still be present in Mexican culture.
