Unprotected sex: “morning after pill” can prevent STDs | life & knowledge

Can it really be that easy to protect yourself from syphilis, gonorrhea or chlamydia?

So far, the morning-after pill has only been known to protect against unwanted pregnancy. Now researchers have discovered that even taking a certain medication once after sex can prevent the onset of bacterial sexually transmitted diseases (STIs).

Like the usual morning-after pill, this must be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex. In one study, two thirds of sex diseases could be averted in this way.
