Nothing embodies more clearly the failed policy of the international community after the founding of Israel in 1948 than the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East, or UNRWA for short. The status of the refugee and expelled Arabs – yes, that existed – is now being passed down to the fourth and fifth generations. All other refugee organizations that were founded after the Second World War for specific populations were dissolved; otherwise the UNHCR is responsible globally.
