Lean – conscious
The High Commissioner of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, warned about the danger of unexploded bombs scattered among the rubble of destroyed houses in the Gaza Strip.
Lazzarini’s statement, published on the “X” platform, said, “Earlier this week, hundreds of thousands had to leave Khan Yunis and Rafah in the south due to new evacuation orders issued by the occupation authorities, the largest since October, as it affected… Almost a quarter of a million people.
The statement added, “Citizens are searching for safety that does not exist. They are forced to set up tents and temporary structures of houses, often under the rubble of bombed buildings, as the danger of unexploded ordnance from the remnants of the Zionist bombing. spread. “
Lazzarini pointed out that “it was reported last week that a nine-year-old girl was killed and six other children were injured due to an unexploded ordnance in Khan Yunis.”
The UNRWA High Commissioner explained that the serious danger puts children in particular danger, as they spend hours collecting water and food and are forced to walk long distances among piles of accumulated waste that could cover unexploded ordnance.
He called for an end to the ongoing displacement that residents of the Gaza Strip are forced to do because of Israeli orders, which is driving Palestinian citizens into despair.
Lazzarini urged the parties to reach the long-awaited ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip without further delay.
