By Friday, it is expected that the tables of those hired for the cleaning of the school units will be posted, so that, after the objections process has passed, they will be able to take up work on September 1, when the new school year formally begins.
These are 112 full-time and 30 part-time workers, following the relevant decision of the municipal council, who will be immediately assigned to prepare the schools for the reception of students.
At the same time, according to the responsible deputy mayor Yannis Aivatidis, the interventions in the school units are also underway and are expected to be completed by the start of the school year. This is the large upgrade program of 40 school units, in 11 of which the works concern the courtyard areas.
At the same time, a request to register and prioritize the needs has been sent to the schools’ managements, so that relevant care can be taken and the necessary studies prepared, where needed. Mr. Aivatidis noted that the municipal authority is all ready for the start of the school year.
