‘Until now, I used to hear development stories only in the name of Padma Setu and Metrorail. Now I see more problems inside. 15 years is not a problem, was too busy with flattery. Coming to BJMC, all the problems related to non-availability of jobs and salaries were disheartening. I will do my best to solve it.’

Brigadier General (Retd.), Advisor to the Ministry of Textiles and Jute and Maritime Transport at the BJMC head office on Sunday (September 1). M Sakhawat Hossain said these things in the speech of the chief guest in the exchange meeting with BJMC officials and employees.

Before this, the special guest of the meeting was Secretary of Ministry of Textiles and Jute. In his speech, Abdur Rauf gave a brief speech about the initiatives taken by the ministry to eliminate the overall problems of BJMC.

Incidentally, on behalf of the BJMC Officers Association, the advisor was requested to solve the problems of BJMC such as closure of mills, long process of job assimilation and non-payment of salaries etc.

Chairman of BJMC Farooq Ahmed presided over the event and senior officials of Ministry of Textiles and Jute, directors of BJMC, advisers, officials and employees of all levels were also present in the event.

Then in the afternoon in the conference room of Bangladesh Jute Mills Association, the advisor Dr. Chairman of BJMC Abul Hossain brought up other issues to M Sakhawat Hossain including declaration of jute as an agricultural product, abolition of 2 percent source tax on raw jute.

Abdur Rauf, Secretary of Textile and Jute Ministry, Chairman of BJA was also present at the meeting. Farhad Ahmed Akand, BJSA Vice Chairman Tapas Pramanik, BJGEA Senior Vice Chairman Al Masud, BJA Executive Committee Member Gazi Shariful Islam and others.
