When a revolutionary dies, she never dies!
Write: Freddy Salazar
With deep pain I say goodbye to my lifelong love, companion and comrade, Noemi Benito.
We had two children and created a great family with 5 grandsons and granddaughters who were our adoration.
Noe was of Argentine origin and was a member of the glorious Argentine PST and its international current since the beginning of the 70s of the last century, and with the military coup of 1976 he had to go into exile, to Bogotá, with many of his comrades.
In Colombia she was a member of the PST of that country and was secretary of the Simón Bolívar International Brigade, a combat brigade that supported the Sandinista struggle for the overthrow of the Somoza dictatorship in Nicaragua between 1978 and 1979.
For this reason, she was imprisoned along with other children. when the police intervened at the organization’s premises.
In 1980 he came to Lima, along with other kids and kids, to support the Peruvian PST, after the electoral success of Focep.
Here we met, we loved each other and we built a family, with all its problems, fighting together, until today when his life ended.
Like hundreds of workers, young men and women fighters who knew her, Noe was a tireless and supportive activist, and a friend to countless fighters with whom she shared streets, assemblies, protests and other activities.
He did it under the banners of the PST and the International Workers’ League, LIT CI, organizations that we built as political tools for the liberation of the working class in Peru and in the world.
And she did it modestly, as a selfless grassroots activist, with passion, joy and perseverance, and above all from the working class where she carried solidarity and stood out by placing our newspaper.
She was infinitely supportive. Her house became a space for meetings and worker coordination linked to the work of the party, and everyone who came to her always found a bed to rest or bread to eat. Whether a worker activist or a comrade of the International, everyone always had a welcoming place here organized by the immense heart of Noe.
Thus it showed what we are (and do) in essence: we are full internationalists because the working class has no homeland and we fight with the same passion and joy in Argentina, Colombia or Peru. We dedicate our entire life consciously and entirely to revolutionary militancy because there is no way to defeat the enemy without fortitude. And we do it from within the working class because it is the only class that can carry out this revolutionary task.
That’s what we are in the PST and Noe was an example of that.
Also an example of dedication because by not aspiring to anything else we end our lives as we began it, with no wealth other than our morals.
In this, Noe was an example that makes us proud and represents us in the PST.
And as a partner, mother, grandmother and friend, Noe was also like that, passionate, happy and loving, with all her flaws that also showed her as truly human.
Today we say goodbye to her with deep pain, her family, colleagues from the PST and from various countries, and friends, with our fists raised because we know that her life was not in vain and that it serves as an example to continue the fight.
Their flags will be taken up by other young men and women who will follow their example, building our party and our International from and for the working class, until the final victory.
Goodbye dear Noah.
Until socialism always
Long live the PST.
Long live the LIT CI
