It has always been said that football moves a lot of money, but not all clubs are capable of managing their income in the correct, or even legal, way. Examples abound: the dramatic relegation of Rangers in Scotland, the recent removal of points by the Premier League from Everton or even the impossibility of incorporating players in the transfer markets, as is usually common in Argentine football.

This is the story of Pontypridd United, a team that plays in the Welsh First Division and could suffer the shocking loss of 141 points. The reason? The thing is that he faces a large series of economic and contractual irregularities of which the Welsh federation accuses him.

Pontypridd have been found guilty of 18 charges of financial irregularities and have had six points deducted, but could lose an additional 135 points should they field any players out of contract before the end of the 2024-2025 season.

The FAW accused them of not paying the money they owed to the players as well as of not fulfilling the contractual obligations they had with them, in addition to not having registered the players correctly and having committed improper alignment.

The independent commission that has handled the case has also prohibited the Welsh club from signing in the next two transfer windows, so they will not be able to incorporate anyone until January 2025.

The six-point penalty has left Pontypridd bottom of the table with seven points after 18 games.
