An incident has taken place in Delhi where a teenage girl was itching to drive a two-wheeler bought by her father as a Diwali gift.

The meaning of vehicle registrations on new motorcycles currently on sale in Delhi has caused new controversy.
It is said that the reason for the public’s frown is the presence of the letters ‘SEX’ on the registration plates issued by the Regional Transport Office.
Registration in India is based on districts and vehicle types. Accordingly if the white number plates have numbers in black they are identified as the vehicle of the individual. Based on this, registration of vehicles is being issued in Delhi as well. The first 2 letters DL for Delhi refer to the state of Delhi.
The next 2 numbers indicate the district of the Regional Transportation Office. The first letter of the alphabet, C, stands for car and S for two-wheeler. The next letter and number are the regular sequence numbers. It is the characters that are currently in that line that have caused the controversy.
Recently a teenage girl in Delhi bought a two wheeler from her father as a Diwali gift. But currently unable to use it. That’s because of the records on it. The DL35SEX0000 was the record on the woman’s vehicle.
If you look at these numbers together you know nothing. But if you read it separately, everyone is frowning. That’s because of the letters “sex” between these numbers. The woman left the bike unused because she was teased by others for looking at the record.
Following this, the girl’s father approached the two-wheeler dealer to change the relevant registration. The person said that thousands of vehicles with such numbers were running in Delhi.
Responding to the incident, Delhi Transport Commissioner KK Tahiya said it was not possible to change the number given to a vehicle and it was given on the basis of serial number in issuing the registration.
