Polish game developer The Farm 51 has announced a new sci-fi survival horror RPG titled “Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone,” which is set to release in 2025 on Steam and home consoles, featuring Chinese subtitles and game interface, as well as a single-player campaign mode and online cooperative missions.

“Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone” will transform the post-nuclear wasteland of Chernobyl from the previous game into an open world. Players will take on the role of a “Planewalker” traversing parallel worlds, delving into the exclusion zone to search for a rare high-energy material known as Chernobylite. This crystal can transmute surrounding matter, leading people to develop technologies to combat it.

While exploring the quarantine zone, players may encounter swarms of nightmare creatures. They can retaliate using an advanced melee combat system, suppress enemies with a diverse range of firearms, or for more pacifist players, they can use stealth to sneak past conflicts or seek help from other NPCs to avoid confrontation.

In terms of character development, players will utilize “planewalking” to constantly adjust their attributes, skill sets, and equipment, allowing for a range of playstyles including heavy melee and long-range sniper builds. They can switch flexibly between different combinations based on the current situation.

Various legion factions will react to every action players take in the game. During conflicts, players will need to choose sides, deciding whether to assist them in defeating vicious monsters, which could enhance the legion’s influence and lead to partnerships in negotiations.

According to the Steam introduction, this game continues and upgrades the base-building system from the previous installment. Players will need to gather resources to develop their base, craft items, and upgrade weapons, recruit NPCs to form adventure teams, and allocate tasks and resources to team members to manage base equipment and supplies.

In addition, each character possesses unique advantages and abilities that players can unlock as they build trust with them, potentially gaining knowledge and skills to fully unleash their character’s potential.

“Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone” is expected to be released in 2025 on Steam and Xbox platforms (tentative).
