Hello, today Biztalk Gadget will review the HONOR 200, which I consider to be the best mid-priced smartphone under 10,000 THB. Why do I think so? Let’s take a look.

Let’s start with the device itself. It features a 6.7-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a maximum brightness of 4000 nits. This display is excellent for gaming and for outdoor use on sunny days, making it easy to see the screen clearly.

The choice of materials is commendable. The device looks premium while maintaining a slim profile at just 7.7mm thick, whereas many competitors usually exceed 8mm. The weight is also impressive at 187 grams, making it more comfortable for long gaming sessions or watching videos compared to heavier devices over 200 grams.

Moving on to performance, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset is a great value for this phone. If you want a more powerful chipset, you will need to spend an additional 5,000 THB to upgrade to the Pro version. Personally, I think the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is sufficient for nearly all mobile games. The GPU features an Adreno 720, and it comes with 12GB of RAM, which is on par with many flagship models, plus a hefty 512GB of ROM.

When it was announced, I thought the specifications clearly outperformed competitors in terms of specs and price.

Continuing to the battery, it offers a sizeable 5200 mAh in a device that is only 7.7mm thick; I must admit that the battery technology from this brand has significantly improved. Fast charging is supported up to 100W via wired connection, and the box includes a 100W charging adapter and a Type-C charging cable. However, it’s a bit unfortunate that it does not support wireless charging; if you desire this feature, you will need to upgrade to the Pro version.

Now, let’s go to one of the highlights of this device, which is the camera. They highlight that it comes with AI support and collaborated with Harcourt Studio to design 3 photography modes or filters for Portrait mode. This feature establishes a unique identity by adjusting light, shadows, and tone to produce one-of-a-kind photos, which we will explore shortly.

The rear camera specifications are indeed surprising at launch, as it features 3 full lenses and can capture in 4 focal lengths: a main camera at 50 MP, f/2.0 (wide) OIS for 1X and 2X shots.

The Telephoto camera is 50 MP, f/2.4 OIS, specially designed for 2.5x optical zoom shots. Finally, the Ultrawide camera is 12 MP, f/2.2, with an impressive 112-degree field of view, along with autofocus.

The rear camera supports video recording up to 4K@30fps and 1080p@30/60fps with gyro-EIS and OIS for stable video recording.

This device offers fully equipped lenses compared to many smartphones priced around 15,000 THB, which usually provide only a single portrait range. Some models offer either 1X or 2X, but this one provides all three: 1X, 2X, and 2.5X, which is excellent for photography.

The front camera has 50 MP, f/2.1 with HDR support. Video recording is also available up to 4K@30fps, 1080p@30fps, though it lacks OIS. Still, this is a substantial feature set for a front camera.

Exploring Photos from Harcourt Studio

Now, let’s take a look at the photos, particularly from Harcourt Studio, which claims to be a luxury studio and see how the results fare on a mobile camera.

The first set of photos will showcase the differences among the three modes. The first image will be Harcourt Vibrant, which has the most vivid colors, followed by Harcourt Colour, where we start to see slightly warmer tones skewing retro. Finally, the Classic mode is a black and white photo, which they claim has a unique quality.

This time, I hardly took any Vibrant mode photos because I preferred the tones of Harcourt Colour and Classic much more. Let’s check these out one by one.

Starting with the Colour mode, let’s look at portrait shots. The tones are clearly retro, and since I took the outdoor shots on a somewhat cloudy day, the colors turned out stunning. As for the background blur, it performed well with the AI showing no random blurs or mistakes in focus.

Whether photographing locations, like a museum, to catch a glimpse of what Bangkok looked like decades ago, or capturing flowers and food, it truly excels.

Now let’s see some black and white shots, starting with the Art Toy I photographed, followed by some portraits. As I mentioned earlier, the black and white tone in Harcourt Classic is quite different from typical black and white photos taken with other smartphones.

Now, checking some general black and white images and capturing moments that play with light and shadow, I must say I quite enjoy the black and white tone of this device compared to other models I have tried.

Finally, here are some standard Photo mode images without filters. Overall, in terms of feelings, I must say that the standard Photo mode still produces slightly retro tones, but perhaps not as vivid as the Harcourt mode. Still, I like this tone, especially when capturing old places—the results are really beautiful.

Lastly, let’s take a look at a bit of video content. Overall stabilization is quite good; panning the camera shows no noticeable shake, and the audio capture is also decent. Let’s check it out for both visuals and audio from the clip.

I’ve mentioned many pros so far, but I’d like to close with a small note. Regarding camera use, when it comes to zooming, don’t expect much because they don’t focus on Digital Zoom functionality.

That’s pretty much it for the HONOR 200 review. As I mentioned at the beginning, this device truly offers great value in terms of specifications, speed, and the camera, which is a major selling point. For those looking for a mid-range smartphone priced at 14,990 THB, this device is definitely worth considering as one of the options.
