Ghazipur: Afzal Ansari had appealed in Allahabad High Court against the 4-year sentence given to him under Gangster Act. Hearing Afzal Ansari’s petition in this case, the court has cancelled his earlier 4-year sentence. In this case, Afzal Ansari’s elder brother and former MLA Sibghatullah Ansari has shared his reaction by talking to the media.
Sibghatullah Ansari said that he wants to congratulate all his well-wishers. This is the victory of justice and truth. It is the result of the blessings and prayers of millions of people that the High Court has accepted the petition of Afzal Ansari and acquitted him. In response to a question, Sibghatullah Ansari said that Afzal Ansari was innocent, but still he was sentenced by the lower court. The High Court has done justice today. It has separated the wheat from the chaff. The punishment order has been cancelled. Sifghatullah Ansari is the elder brother of Afzal Ansari. He has also been an MLA from Muhammadabad assembly constituency.
Afzal was sentenced along with Mukhtar Ansari
Let us tell you that on 29 April 2023, Ghazipur MP MLA Court sentenced Afzal Ansari to 4 years imprisonment and fine in the case of Gangster Act. In the same case, Afzal Ansari’s brother Mukhtar Ansari was also sentenced by the court. Mukhtar Ansari was sentenced to 10 years and fined by the court. Afzal Ansari had filed an appeal in the High Court against his own sentence. In this case, the court had reserved the decision on 4 July. On Monday, 29 July, the court acquitted Ansari in this case.
