They were well organized, but not enough to escape justice… Two men aged 35 and 54 were sentenced on Friday to 24 and 30 months in prison for a series of thefts that occurred in September in two Leclerc supermarkets.

These thefts were not committed by chance. Everything was well organized. During the night of September 4 to 5, the duo went looking for license plates. It is in the village of Auchy-la-Montagne that they steal some. As soon as their car was equipped, they were ready to commit their first theft in the Leclerc supermarket in Saint-Just-en-Chaussée. Spotted by the security guard, they manage to escape. Thanks to video surveillance cameras and the testimony of the security agent, the police quickly made the link with the theft of plates committed the day before.

Cashier sprayed with tear gas

A few days later, on September 13, the two men targeted another supermarket of the brand, this time in Breteuil. “They did their shopping, put two full bags in the shopping cart and went to the self-checkout. They liberally sprayed the cashier’s face with tear gas before escaping. The employee was extremely shocked,” confides a soldier. This time, it is not just a simple theft but an armed robbery, the tear gas bomb being considered a weapon by destination.

The car, probably stolen, was found burned a few kilometers away. The community of Breteuil brigades, reinforced by the Beauvais search brigade and the services of the departmental group then collaborate to identify the thieves. It was in towns around Beauvais that the latter, with extensive criminal records, were finally spotted and arrested when they jumped out of bed last Wednesday. Before being sentenced to 24 and 30 months in prison by the Beauvais court.
