As the Chennai Kiramalainagar Ford factory has stopped car production, the Ford management has announced compensation for the employees. Permanent workers report that the compensation announced by the management is insufficient.

The Ford factory was operating for more than 20 years in the town of Thirammalai next to Chennai. While these plants can produce 4 lakh cars per year, in the last few years only 80 thousand cars were produced.

As a result, it was said that the Ford company was continuously running at a huge loss. 14,000 crores in losses due to this, it announced through Twitter last year that it will stop production in India. In this case, the production was completely stopped last July.

The workers at the Ford factory demanded job security and continued operation of the factory. They were protesting saying that the Gujarat factory should be sold to another company along with the factory workers, similarly the Chennai Ford factory should be sold along with the workers.

They were demanding that the Tamil Nadu government should also take action in this regard. Based on the tripartite talks held by the Tamil Nadu government, factory management and employees, the strike was called off. The employees continued to negotiate with the factory management. In the negotiations conducted by the factory workers and the union, they said that if the compensation is given by the management, it should be calculated as 215 days per year. In the negotiations held, the trade unions had said that at least 185 days should be settled. But the management continued to deny it. It is noteworthy that about 68 times of negotiations were held in this regard.

Finally, it has been informed that only 130 days will be given by Ford Factory in Chennai. This notification has been issued in the name of VSS SCHEME. Through this notification, it has been informed that you have to apply for this by September 23. An employee is said to get a minimum of Rs 33 lakh and a maximum of Rs 85 lakh.

When the Ford employee says in this regard, we keep saying that they should ensure their employment. But the management also gave less compensation than we expected and abandoned us who had been growing this company for so long. According to the permanent workers unions, the compensation announced by the Ford management is not enough as 30 percent of the compensation given by the management will go to tax and they, the educated graduates, have a role in the development of Ford India.
