Upcoming Poker Events in Italy

by time news

When we talk about poker events, the big tournaments in Las Vegas, such as the World Series of Poker, which annually award the title of world champion, immediately come to mind. While this represents the global pinnacle of poker, there are many satellite events and tournaments of lesser importance that still award large prize pools.

Even in Italy, for some years now, live events have been organized, which allow local players to participate in important tournaments without leaving the national borders. In this article we will see what are the next poker events scheduled in the Bel Paese in the coming months.

Texapoker Series

The Texapoker Series represents a true trademark of the French company Texapoker, which has been organizing live tournaments in Europe since 2008. The offer of events can be summarized with the claim “a tournament near you” and allows those who live in Italy and France to participate in prestigious events without going abroad. The motto of the Texapoker Series seems to represent a bridge between online poker and live tournaments, as the company organizes several events throughout the year. This bridges the gap between passionate Italian and French players as it would happen online, but on a more familiar geographical scale.

The Texapoker Series will take place in Italy at the Casino di Sanremo, from August 20 to 25, 2024 and from August 27 to September 1. In the first week, to make this tournament even more interesting, there is the Main Event featuring a Derby 200, but also “sides” such as the Superstack 80 and the Superstack 100, as well as a Bigstack 120.

In particular, the tournament opens on Tuesday 20th with the Tuesday Speciale, while on Wednesday 21st the Superstack 80 is scheduled and on Thursday 22nd the Superstack 100; the Derby 200 is scheduled from Friday to Sunday, the day on which the Bigstack 120 is also scheduled. The buy-in for this week is 200 euros.

In the second week, starting August 27, the program becomes even more interesting, because there is also a Superstack 150. It starts again with the Tuesday Special on Tuesday August 27, while on Wednesday August 28 the Superstack 80 is scheduled, on Thursday August 29 the Superstack 100, on Friday August 30 the Superstack 120 and on Saturday August 31 the Superstack 150; on Sunday the Bigstack 100 is scheduled. For this week of the Texapoker Series the buy-in starts at 60 euros.

Sanremo Poker Cup

An important event such as the Sanremo Poker Cup Silver Edition returns to the Ligurian casino, that is, a week of tournaments including main events and side events. The Sanremo Poker Cup is always organized by Texapoker, in collaboration with the Casino of Sanremoand is scheduled from September 18 to 22, 2024. The distinctive features of this 200 euro tournament are 4 Day 1, a starting stack of 50,000 chips and levels of 30, 40 and 50.

The SPC Silver Edition is scheduled every day from Wednesday to Sunday at 1:00 PM, while the Regular 100 side tournaments are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday evenings. The SPC High Roller is scheduled for Saturday, September 21st; the final days of both the Silver Edition and the High Roller are scheduled for Sunday, September 22nd. Finally, the Bigstack 120 will also take place on Sunday.

WSOP Circuit

The WSOP Circuit is a regional poker tour that features 18 national and international stops, which will take place until the end of the calendar year. This year’s edition is the twentieth and began last Wednesday, July 19 at the Olympic Park Casino in Tallinn, Estonia, just after the World Series of Poker 2024 in Las Vegas.

The circuit includes five international stops in 2014, the last of which will be in Italy and more precisely in Sanremo. In detail, after Tallinn the WSOP-C will be from August 7 to 19 at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino in Calgary, Canada, from August 19 to September 3 at the Playground Poker Club in Quebec, Canada, from October 16 to 29 at the King’s Resort in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, and from November 1 to 11 at the Casino in Sanremo.

This prestigious event is also organized by Texapoker which, after the success of last year’s WSOP-C in Parisbrings the tournament to Italy. As in 2023, eight rings will be distributed, but the event will feature an accessible buy-in. The highlight of the tournament is the 1,000 euro main event, but there is no shortage of side events with the possibility of participating in other rings with buy-ins from 250 euros to 750 euros.

Additionally, the $1 million freeroll returns, with a similar format to the 2023-2024 season. Interestingly, official WSOP gold ring winners from live or online circuit events through May 2025 will qualify for the “Tournament of Champions” event.

Conclusion

As we have seen, there is no shortage of events for Texas Hold’em enthusiasts in Italy. The reference casino is always the one in Sanremo, which this year is confirmed as the most active in terms of live tournaments.
