WhatsApp is expanding the messenger’s video call feature: special effects are intended to give conversations a personal touch, but also protect them from prying eyes.
WhatsApp users will soon have new functions to choose from for video calls: The messenger will be equipped with ten different filters and backgrounds that can be activated in video calls.
The video filters are intended to make conversations more entertaining or more expressive. The backgrounds are intended to help protect private rooms or environments from prying eyes, but can also easily be used to make video calls more creative.
You can use the “Warm” filter to create a cozy atmosphere or use “Prism Light” to give the call something artistic. The new backgrounds make it possible to sit down in a boring office, but also on the beach, in the forest or even in the middle of a party.
In addition, the quality of your own camera image can be improved using the “Refine” and “Low Light” options. The new effects are accessed via the effects icon in the top right for individual or group calls.
WhatsApp says it plans to make the new functions available to all users over the next few weeks.
