On Wednesday, the father of soccer star Lamine Yamal was stabbed to death. Now there is news about his health.
A total of four people have been arrested following the knife attack on Lamine Yamal’s father. After initially making three arrests, the local police confirmed to the AFP news agency that their search for another person had been successful.
Yamal’s father Mounir Nasraoui was stabbed on Wednesday evening in a parking lot in the Catalan town of Mataro, about 30 kilometers north of Barcelona. He was immediately taken to Can Ruti Hospital. Nasraoui’s condition was serious at first, but he is now said to be stable, according to family sources less than 24 hours after the attack.
This was also the interpretation of Nasraoui’s first personal reaction in public after the attack on Thursday afternoon. “Thank you all for your support. I’m already feeling better,” Yamal’s father wrote on his Instagram account. “I’m giving each and every one of you a big hug.”
For the time being, however, Nasraoui cannot leave the hospital. He must remain “under observation,” relatives said.
Videos are circulating online that allegedly show the father arguing with three people in the street, which was calmed down by the intervention of police forces. It is suspected that this was the trigger for the attack. It is currently unknown whether the video is real and whether it is actually Nasraoui.
The European champion’s father and Yamal’s grandmother live in Rocafonda, a district of Mataro where the 17-year-old also grew up. The youngster celebrates his goals by showing a “304” with his hands, the postcode of the district.
Nasraoui became known during the European Championship through his presence on social media, where he repeatedly showed his support for the exceptional talent.
