From the day of the inauguration, and during the 5 days that the event will last, the general public will be able to take advantage of free guided tours that leave from the central Pavilion.
The quality of these visits will be guaranteed by FHH experts: more than 100 exceptional pieces to discover. The tours will extend into the showrooms of certain brands and end at the FHH headquarters, at the Pont de la Machine, with a visit to the “Watches and Talents” exhibition.
What is the human value in watchmaking? This is the question answered by the exhibition in question. This theme will also be the subject of conferences, the dates and locations of which will soon be available on the event website.
This reinforced collaboration also favors the holding of “Watch Reviews” of the new products offered by the brands on August 30 and September 1, as well as “coffee breaks” to exchange ideas between lovers of beautiful watches. On August 31, “Brunch by FHH” will give everyone the opportunity to test the breadth of their watch culture.
In addition, six symposiums will answer current questions. How does watchmaking integrate the challenges of sustainable development? Are the big players influential in the second-hand market? Who are the most important women in the industry? Is the GPHG authoritative? What are safe values for investment? And finally, what are the emerging brands of 2024?
For the second year in a row, a charity auction will be held on September 1, jointly run by Geneva Watch Days and Phillips. Under the hammer of Aurel Bacs, it is not watches that will be donated, but unique objects or experiences. The profits thus generated will go to the Pierre Amstutz Fund, in memory of the former Director of the Geneva Watch School.
The aim of this non-profit association is to support apprentices in precarious situations in that school, so that they can complete their studies under good conditions.
To accommodate all these new activities, the GWD dedicates a wing of the Pavilion to its cultural partners: the FHH, of course, but also the Geneva Watch School, Horopedia and the Watch Library. This is the “Culture Club”. In addition, a new space will be opened this year, the “Glass Box”, which can be seen from the Main Pavilion. This is where the symposiums and “Watch Reviews” will take place.
First, he founded the Geneva Watch Days brand in 2020: Breitling, Bvlgari, De Bethune, Girard-Perregaux, H. Moser & Cie. and MB&F. The event is part of a philosophy based on a “complexity-free” spirit of collaboration.
We describe it as a self-managed organization that offers brands a common space to showcase their new products and gives them the freedom to express themselves in decentralized locations.
The meeting takes place under the auspices of the State and the city of Geneva and is aimed at professionals in the sector – the media and retailers – and the general public. This project is also supported by the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH), the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) and Genève Tourisme.
