Urban campsites, close to towns and in exotic settings, are attracting more and more tourists. Report in Dardilly, about twenty minutes from downtown Lyon, in the Rhône.
The gates of Lyon (Rhône) are a well-known route for holidaymakers. For some, it’s even a destination: the campsite nestled behind the mountains. The six hectares of forests and chalets in Dardilly (Rhône) attract tourists, including a German family. “It’s close to the highway, you can come without crossing the city center (…) but it’s still quiet and peaceful”, explains the mother of the family.
70% of French customers
The campsite is located about twenty minutes from the center of Lyon. The calm and greenery also attract city dwellers. “We are lucky to be able to get out of town quickly and enjoy. You feel like you’re on vacation, but you don’t”, explains a customer from Villeurbanne. Open all year round, the site welcomes 70% of French customers. “On long weekendsswe have families who meet (…) and many people to discover Lyon”, says Patrick Skolimowski, deputy director. The campsite is already full during the Rugby World Cup in France.
