Urban Habitat Development Board Accelerates Collection of Building Permit Statistics in Tamil Nadu

by time news

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government is currently in the process of collecting comprehensive statistics on the number of building permits issued and the number of houses built across the state. Spearheading this effort is the Urban Habitat Development Board.

To facilitate this project, various agencies such as the Housing Board, Chennai Metropolitan Development Corporation (CMDA), and others are actively involved in project approval-related activities. These agencies are instrumental in gathering data on construction projects carried out by private entities as well as the number of publicly accessible houses in Tamil Nadu.

To consolidate all the relevant information, the ‘Tamil Housing Report’ will be published, encompassing construction projects executed by both private and public entities. The Urban Habitat Development Board has been entrusted with the responsibility of collating this data. Additionally, CMDA, City, Urban Development Department, and DTCP have been directed to furnish details of residential project permits issued over the past decade.

The data collected will incorporate various parameters, including the number of projects, the number of houses, the area covered, the Floor Space Index (FSI) used, and the area index. Furthermore, the housing report will provide insights into the types of buildings, their geographical locations, building height, number of floors, adherence to regulations, and any violations observed.

Officials involved in the project have stated that the housing report will be finalized in the coming months once all the necessary information is received from the concerned departments. This initiative aims to provide a comprehensive overview of housing development in Tamil Nadu and aid in better urban planning and policy formulation in the state.
