Break dancing, urban parkour, 3×3 basketball and a free alpine trolley complete the unique show in the North Park
The international champions of the prestigious “Battle of Legends” tournament will be broadcast this weekend as part of Urban Zone 2024. In the renewed North Park, viewers will be able to enjoy even more great performances by the best in break dancing, as well as the show stoppers breathtaking jumps of urban parkour virtuosos.
The street fitness tests are part of the international chain of starts in one of the most popular urban sports recently, and for it some of the best masters on the planet arrive in our country. The tournament is part of the program of the traditional Sofia Urban Zone, which every autumn offers a unique attraction with competitions and demonstrations in the new urban disciplines. The big festival is organized for the ninth year in a row by Sofia Municipality and “Sofia – European capital of sports” with the favorite and super interesting for young urban sports and activities.
The show starts on Saturday 14th September with athlete inspection and warm-up from 10.00am. National Championship battles follow with finals after 4.30pm and from 5.40pm to 9.00pm are the 11 giant battles of the “Battle of Legends”. Meanwhile, the short opening ceremony of Urban Zone 2024 is scheduled at precisely 5:00 p.m.
The next day, Sunday, September 15, the superattractions continue with the mega-performances of the best in parkour. From 11.00 there are demonstrations, registrations and a general warm-up, from 12.40 to 14.30 there is a workshop with the basic elements of parkour, and from 14.40 to 16.00 the program consists only of competitions with awards and a lecture on parkour.
Immediately after that, the break aces appear on the huge stage. The organizers give everyone the opportunity to participate in one of the dancers’ favorite formats, in which breakers and dancers of various styles stand side by side, such as wacking, hip hop, popping, locking, etc. The program will be filled with varied and fresh music from our favorite ๐๐ ๐__๐ฆ๐ฆ ๐๐ก ๐๐ง๐ง!, and the judges will be the proven ones on the stage Elena Kolarova – Skywalkers, ihow, Emo – FOOTPRINTz and DzH – Halifix. Hosts who will keep the good mood going are Chuzz and Christopher, and the prize for 1st place is BGN 1000. Entry is free, no participation fee. The regulation stipulates that 16 invited dancers – 8 breakers and 8 from different dance styles – will participate in the dance battles or so-called battles. On-site qualifications will be held for the remaining 16 dancers: 8 for break and 8 for all style. After the qualifiers, the dancers will be randomly assigned into pairs and compete in 2vs2 battles. The program provides from 16:00 for confirmation of participation in place and qualifications, then from 17:00 to 20:00 random drawing of pairs and holding of the main part with 2vs2 battles
On both days of the Urban Zone, from the morning on, the meetings of the 3×3 city basketball championship for 16-year-olds are held, and every kid who wants to will be able to get a dose of extra adrenaline free of charge through the roped alpine trolley stretched over the lake behind the stage.
