Madurai: From April 1, the infrastructure facilities for Madurai airport to operate at night have not been established yet, said the Tamil Nadu Food Traders Association.
Executives Jayaprakasam, Velshankar and Saisubramanian gave the petition after meeting Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in Delhi.
They said: From April 1, Madurai is likely to operate as a night airport. Computer servers are not connected for night operation. No additional staff, no additional security guards have been appointed. Only if these three facilities are provided, the night time can function.
Direct flight service to Malaysia should be started as IT, employees and business people go to Malaysia from Madurai.
From Madurai to Chennai the fare is high as it is the same company service. They said that only if competing companies start the service, the fee will come down.
