The midfielder extended his contract this Thursday with the Madrid club.

Uruguayan midfielder Federico Valverde, 25, has extended his contract with Real Madrid for two more seasons until 2029, the Spanish club announced in a statement on Thursday.

The club did not give figures but, according to Spanish media, as with the recent extensions of Camavinga, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, Valverde’s new lease, which runs until June 30, 2029, would be accompanied by a clause release of one billion euros.

The Uruguay international joined Real Madrid in 2016 at the age of 18, from Penarol Montevideo. A versatile midfielder, essential in the eyes of his Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, Valverde has achieved an impressive track record with the Merengue club: a Champions League, two Club World Cups, a European Super Cup, two La Liga titles, a Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups.
