The first screening of ‘Uru’, written and directed by journalist EM Ashraf, was held at Kalabhavan Theater. John Brittas MP, KSFDC Chairman Shaji N Karun, UDF Convener MM Hassan, Kavi Prabha Varma, Language Institute Director PS Sreekala, Perumbadam Sreedharan Prof. AG Oleena, Surya Krishnamurthy, Pandalam Sudhakaran and many others participated in the event. The film is about the life struggles of the expatriates in the context of the steel production in Beypore. The film was shot at the Uru Production Center in Beypore, Kozhikode and was produced by Mansoor Pallur. Starring Mamukoya, KU Manoj, Manju Patros, Anil Baby, Ajay Kallayi, Arjun, Rajendran Thayatt, Obaid Mohsin, Geetika Girish, Shivani Santosh, Baiju Bhaskar and PK Zaheer. Prabha Varma composed the lyrics and Kamal Prashant composed the music. Sreekumar Perumpadavam is the cinematographer. Editor Harinayar.
