“The war in Ukraine will define what kind of world our children and grandchildren will live in. I thank the members of Congress from both parties for their assistance. This is not charity, but an investment in global security and democracy.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a speech he delivered before both houses of the United States Congress last (Wednesday) night.

Zelensky was greeted with applause in Congress, and several members of Congress in the audience waved the Ukrainian flag.

Later, Zelensky presented Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and Vice President Kamala Harris with a Ukrainian flag with the signatures of Ukrainian soldiers from the front in Behemoth in eastern Ukraine.

According to Zelensky, the support of members of Congress is critical.

“We have artillery, but is it enough? Honestly, no. The occupiers have a significant advantage in ammunition, they have many more missiles and planes than we once had. However, against all odds, Ukraine did not fall. Ukraine is alive and kicking.”

Regarding Russia’s use of Iranian drones, he said:

“It’s only a matter of time before they attack one of your allies if we don’t stop them now. We have to do it.”

In his estimation, a turning point in the war will take place in the coming year.

“Ukrainian courage and American determination will ensure our shared freedom. You can hasten the victory, which will prove to any potential aggressor that no one can succeed in breaking international borders, in committing such atrocities, and in controlling people against their will. It would be naive to expect steps towards peace from Russia.”
