MADRID, 10 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The United States Central Command announced this Tuesday that the aircraft carrier ‘USS Gerald R. Ford’ has arrived in the eastern Mediterranean accompanied by several destroyers and numerous attack aircraft to support Israel after the offensive launched on Saturday by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
“The arrival of these highly capable forces in the region is a strong signal of deterrence should any actor hostile to Israel consider trying to take advantage of this situation,” General Michael Erik Kurilla said in a statement.
On the other hand, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported this Tuesday on the social network X that a first plane with ammunition from the United States has landed at the Nevatim military base. “We are grateful for American support and assistance to the IDF,” he added.
This same Tuesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized Washington’s sending of the aircraft carrier, anticipating that there will be “massacres” in the Gaza Strip. “What is the American aircraft carrier doing in Israel?” he questioned.
