The United States and Jordan today carried out another airlift of humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, dropping more than 11,500 food packages by parachute, the US military said, as quoted by Reuters.

Israel’s offensive in Gaza, which is backed by the United States, has displaced most of the enclave’s population of 2.3 million and led to critical shortages of food, water and medicine.

The US Central Command said the latest delivery was made over the northern Gaza Strip and included rice, flour, pasta and canned goods. Since the beginning of the month, the US has already delivered about 135,000 packages of food by air, according to data from the Pentagon.

US President Joe Biden has ordered the military to build a temporary port to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza by sea.

The Pentagon said Friday that it will take up to 60 days to build and launch. According to humanitarian organizations, this period is too long for the starving population of the Gaza Strip.
