US-China conflict: Taiwan only invited to Democratic conference

by time news

Washington: The United States has invited Taiwan to attend an online conference on democracy, but has not invited China.
The US-led conference on democracy is taking place on December 9 and 10. The conference will discuss the challenges and opportunities for democracies, how to confront them, how to combat corruption and human rights.
The U.S. State Department says 110 countries, including India, Pakistan, Britain and Japan, have been invited to the conference, which will be chaired by President Biden via video conferencing. The United States, which has called on Taiwan, has not called on China. China has strongly opposed the US move.
