The United States Coast Guard announced on Tuesday the repatriation of 13 Cuban rafters intercepted 32 miles southwest of Las Tumbas.
As reported by the federal agency on its social networks, the action was carried out by the crew of the cutter Isaac Mayo, who returned these people after being helped by a good Samaritan who alerted them to their presence.

Likewise, officials assured that the security agency and its partners “will continue rescuing and repatriating migrants,” as a clear warning to those who decide to embark on the dangerous sea journey.
It is important to mention that the specific details regarding the group of Cuban rafters were not revealed, nor was the exact date on which they began their trip.
At the end of April, the repatriation of a total of 52 Cuban rafters who, in a similar way, tried to reach US territory through the sea was reported.
The Cuban authorities, through their propaganda media, reported at the time that among the travelers there were 45 men, six women and a child under four years old, all returning through the Port of Orozco, in Bahía Honda, province of Artemisa.

The majority of these rafters, as indicated, were natives of the province of Matanzas.
In addition, it was highlighted that among the repatriates, four of them were on parole for compliance with criminal sanctions at the time of their departure.
The Ministry of the Interior of Cuba indicated that these individuals will be made available to the corresponding courts for the revocation of said benefit.
