/ The American newspaper “The Hill” reported that a judge in New York State refused to postpone the implementation of a ruling against former President Donald Trump, which requires the latter to pay $355 million in a civil fraud case.

According to the newspaper, Trump’s legal team asked Judge Arthur Engoron to delay the execution for 30 days in order to “protect the defendants’ appeal rights and ensure an orderly post-sentencing process.”

“You have failed to explain, let alone justify, any basis for stopping the decision,” Engoron wrote in an emailed response to Trump attorney Clifford Robert’s motion, which was filed with the court on Thursday. “I am confident that the Appellate Division will protect your appeal rights.”

Engoron ordered Trump to pay a $354.8 million fine, plus interest, last week after finding he conspired to alter his net worth to obtain tax and insurance benefits.

Since Engoron’s ruling last Friday, more than $87,000 in interest has been added to that amount every day.

Senior executives at the Trump Organization, including Trump’s sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, were also ordered to pay several million dollars.

The appeals effort has also begun with the formal ruling on the court docket. Trump and the other defendants have 30 days from the date of Engoron’s ruling to appeal.
