Amid rumors that US President Joe Biden may withdraw from the upcoming election due to health problems, former President Donald Trump’s team said that in such a case, the head of the White House should also leave the post of Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
Trump’s vice presidential nominee, J.D. Vance, has said that if Biden’s cognitive functions prevent him from running for a second term, they also prevent him from continuing to serve as president.
“If Joe Biden’s cognitive functions are not fit to run for reelection, then they clearly are not fit to remain Commander-in-Chief. How can any of the Democrats pushing him to drop out of the race honestly claim he should remain President?” Vance wrote on H.W.’s social media.
The comments come as Biden faces growing pressure from his fellow party members, with more than 160 influential members of the Democratic Party calling on the president to withdraw from the race after his debate defeat against Trump.
Biden, in turn, said that questions about his age and physical condition are “legitimate” ahead of the election, but stressed that he is in better physical shape than his rival Donald Trump. He also noted that he may withdraw from the election if serious health problems arise.
Earlier, Cursor wrote that the media reported when Biden might announce the withdrawal of his candidacy in the presidential elections.
