The US Embassy in Azerbaijan congratulated Azerbaijani judoka Hidayat Heydarov on his victory at the Olympics in Paris.
This was reported on Tuesday by Day.Az with reference to a publication on the page of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan on the X social network.
“Congratulations to Hidayat Heydarov on winning the gold medal! Dedication and hard work have truly paid off. Enjoy this wonderful achievement – it is proof of your talent and perseverance. Congratulations to the Azerbaijani team – many more successes and gold medals lie ahead!” – the embassy’s publication says.
It should be noted that the day before, Azerbaijani judoka Hidayat Heydarov became the winner of the Summer Olympic Games in Paris.
The Azerbaijani athlete, competing in the 73 kg weight category, won the gold medal, defeating Frenchman John Benjamin Gaba in the final.
It should be noted that Hidayat Heydarov, who entered the fight from the 1/8 finals, defeated Tohar Butbul (Israel) at this stage. In the 1/4 finals, he beat Artur Margelidon (Canada), and in the semi-finals – Akilah Gzhakov (Kosovo).
This is the first Olympics in the career of Hidayat Heydarov.
