US forces kill ISIS operative in Syria

Pentagon says US has killed an Islamic State operative in a helicopter attack in northeastern Syria. US Central Command said that Rakan Wahid al-Shamri, an ISIS operative who smuggled weapons near the village of Qamishli, was killed.

During the operation, the targeted individual was killed and an accomplice was injured, US Central Command said in a statement. The statement also said that two accomplices were taken into custody by the army.

Not a single US soldier was injured or killed in the operation. No civilians were killed or injured. And there was no loss or damage to US equipment, the statement said.
