US governor Eric Holcomb visits Taiwan amid escalated tense situation

The governor from the state of Indiana has gone to Taiwan to provoke China again on the issue of Taiwan. With China already angered by US Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit, the US governor’s visit is seen as the next step in the conflict. While Taiwan claims to be an independent country, China categorically claims Taiwan as a part of its country.

The United States has taken a stand in support of Taiwan’s democratic autonomy in this matter. Enraged by this, China has warned that the intervention of countries including the United States in the Taiwan issue is tantamount to playing with fire. Following Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, China continues to conduct large-scale military exercises around Taiwan in retaliation.

In the middle of this tense situation, the governor of Indiana, Eric Holcomb, has gone to Taiwan. He belongs to the Republican Party. There he met and held talks with Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen.

Regarding the visit to Taiwan, Eric said in his Twitter post, “I have come to Taiwan for the purpose of economic development. More than 10 Indiana businesses depend on Taiwan. So, I am proud to be the first governor to visit Taiwan.”

China strongly condemned Governor Eric’s visit. With Taiwan as a pawn, US politicians are making a series of trips to make the problem more serious. China will give an appropriate response to this.
