US imposes additional sanctions on North Korea

The United States has imposed additional sanctions on North Korean companies for testing the world’s deadliest intercontinental ballistic missile.

North Korea’s economy has been hit hard by US sanctions. Meanwhile, the spread of the corona epidemic has worsened the country’s economic situation.

However, North Korea frequently launches missiles in an attempt to pressure the United States to become a nuclear-armed country. This poses a threat to neighboring countries, including South Korea and Japan.

In this context, North Korea on Thursday tested the ‘Hwasong-17’ (Hwasong-15,) intercontinental ballistic missile. The missile has a maximum range of 6,248 km. It flies at an altitude of 1,090 km. North Korea’s official news agency Chappell has reported that he fell into the sea over a distance.

This missile is known for its sophistication. Through it, North Korea can attack any part of the United States.

According to the news agency, President Kim Jong Un said that the missile test was conducted to show North Korea’s nuclear capability to the world.

Additional U.S. Sanctions:

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has held telephone consultations with the Ministries of Defense of Japan and South Korea on North Korea’s missile test. They pledged to enhance security cooperation between the 3 countries.

The United States has imposed additional sanctions on five companies and individuals who provided the raw materials for North Korea’s missile program.

It is noteworthy that North Korea has conducted 12 missile tests since the beginning of 2022 alone.
