American intelligence agencies have managed to hack the mobile phone of the shooter who shot at US presidential candidate Donald Trump.
As reported by Day.Az with reference to TASS, this was confirmed by the Director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Christopher Wray.
“One of the things we’re actively doing with the shooter, trying to get more information about his mental state, his motives, his ideology, his contacts, everything else, is to study his [электронные] devices, social media accounts, if any. And we, in particular, found out, having finally penetrated his phone, after gaining access to the contents of the phone, and this in itself was a significant technical challenge in terms of decryption, that he was using an application – an encrypted messenger,” he said at a hearing in the Judiciary Committee of the US House of Representatives.
The Secret Service, which has been operating in recent years under the US Department of Homeland Security, primarily provides security for the country’s top leadership and foreign leaders on American soil. Until 2003, this special service, which has the status of a federal law enforcement agency, was part of the US Treasury Department. This was explained by the fact that it was founded in 1865 to combat counterfeiting of the US national currency, but subsequently its functions were significantly expanded.
