Washington,

The White House says the US has evidence that Iranian forces are in Crimea in support of Russia.

White House Security Council chief John Kirby said Iran has sent a small number of forces to Crimea, a part of Ukraine illegally annexed by Russia in 2014, to help Russian forces launch Iranian-made drones against Ukraine.

“The information we have is that Iran is providing its trainers and technical assistance in Crimea, but Russian forces are operating,” he said.

The US accused Russia of buying drones from Iran to launch against Ukraine. Iran has denied the allegation.
